Jan Iris Smith , LCSW, BCD

Jan Iris Smith is a licensed clinical social worker who has spent the past 29 years in the fields of psychotherapy and healing ,exploring the depths and heights of the human experience. Jan has her B.A. in Psychology from George Washington University, her MSW from Smith College School of Social Work, two years specialized training in family and couples work, certification in Psychodrama and group psychotherapy from the St Elizabeths Hospital Psychodrama training program and is an ordained minister in the Church of Gaiabriel after completing the first three year training program of The Art of Healing. She is committed to viewing and treating the whole person ,nurturing and growing the person's psyche,emotions,intellect,body and spirit.
" Life is never a straight line walked in an uneventful way. We need to learn to take the bumps in the road of life as gently as possible, to open ourselves to learning what works best for us on this journey, to know how and when to apply ourselves to the people and situations we meet. The process of discovering ourselves, our highest good and the good of others, and our true purpose in this life is an exciting and sometimes scary adventure.And learning how to integrate all of our distinct parts and putting our intuition to work in a fuller manner is the enriching experience of the work I do with clients. Adding my knowledge of energy healing and spiritual connection has made my practice with clients so much more powerful and integrated. I love what I do and feel blessed to do this work."
Jan's practice includes individual and couples work, groups, supervision, energy healing and teaching. She works with ages 12 and up. She is licensed to practice clinical social work in Maryland and Virginia and has offices in Cabin John,MD and Vienna,VA. She has the highest credential in social work, Board Certified Diplomate.She is a certified practitioner in Psychodrama and group psychotherapy. And she is particularly proud of her ordination in Gaiabriel. Jan looks forward to working with you.
